Here's
the deal...
Wireless competition is fierce. In most
respects, this is great news for the consumer. Lower phone pricing,
and more generous rate plans are great news for the end user. What
is not commonly known though is the following: In order to become
more competive, the wireless carriers reduced their "customer
acquisition costs".
In the "golden days of wireless", authorized master agents
were paid an activation commission plus a small monthly residual
based on their subscribers usage. Many dealers (including Dr Wireless)
could afford to offer FREE personalized support. The residual was
a WIN/WIN situation since dealers were essentially rewarded to keep
their subscribers happy, not just at the time of sale, but month
after month.
The
internet has changed all of that for the worst in terms of customer
support. In the old "Brick and Mortar" days, all of the
carriers had knowledgeable indirect agents, resellers and direct
retail stores. There was also on-site service departments staffed
by factory trained techs. If your phone broke, it was fixed on the
spot.
Once
the carriers found they could reduce their operating costs dramatically,
they all created online stores. By signing up subscribers via the
internet, it was no longer necessary to pay independent dealers
top dollar anymore. The internet works 24/7 365 days a year for
Free. The carriers also embraced the chain stores and mass merchandisers.
As a wireless carrier, I could understand partnering with a specialty
retailer like Radio Shack. Verizon and T-Mobile just announced a
partnership with Target. That kid at the phone counter is more likely
to know how to flip a burger than how to fix your Blackberry problem.
While
we cannot divulge proprietary carrier information, we are now free
to reveal tips, tricks and cost saving techniques that would previously
have taken activation and/or upgrade revenues from us. Here's your
chance to get professional unbiased wireless advice that could potentially
save thousands of dollars.
Our
program has always catered to business professionals, telecom managers
and IT Directors who are savvy enough to realize the liabilities
of dealing with dotcoms when contracted subscription services are
involved. Please contact me for more details at joel@drwireless.com
